Block 2b / 2c occupies a strategic urban position in the district of Petit Nanterre, facing towards Avenue de la République, at the corner of Rue de l’Agriculture and facing south on the Voie Nouvelle new road. This block plays a major urban role by its scale, its visibility, its situation on Avenue de la République aligned with the other blocks, and the presence of the Canibouts community centre. We designed this housing complex as an architectural and urban object by sculpting its mass with rounded angles that stress and enhance the required variations in heights and setbacks with plays of light and softened forms. In the centre of the block, the geometry of rounded angles and the massing in a cascading series of tiers go hand-in-hand with large balconies on the south. In the entire block, all door and window openings contribute to the architectural effect. The windows are designed as ornamental features and are underlined by one or two courses of glazed ceramic facing.
